Mural for Ravenswood Generating Station
Rising to New Heights is a mural series that covers the wall of the Ravenswood Generating Station, stretching from 37th Avenue to 40th Avenue along Vernon Blvd in Long Island City, NY.
The mural envisions the future of Long Island City, as Rise Light & Power works towards a renewable repowering of New York City’s largest power plant. With the help of local organizations, I gathered inspiration for the artwork from community residents and workers.
The mural is composed of five illustrations - Sunflower Mills, Solar Power, Hometown, Sunday, and The Wisdom Tree - each reflecting aspirations of the local community and Ravenswood staff.
